ASUNCIÓN, 28 de diciembre de 2020.- En su décima edición, el premio AIPS América ha escogido a Yulimar Rojas (Venezuela, atletismo, saltos largo y triple) y LeBron James (Estados Unidos, baloncesto) como los mejores deportistas del continente en el año 2020, de acuerdo con el voto de sus asociaciones nacionales, 22 de las cuales emitieron sus preferencias durante el proceso selectivo.
Rojas fue distinguida pocas semanas atrás como la mejor atleta mujer según la Federación Internacional de Asociaciones de Atletismo (IAAF), en tanto que James se destacó al liderar su equipo, Los Angeles Lakers, a la conquista del título de la temporada 2019/2020 de la NBA
Como mejor equipo fue destacado el de beisbol masculino de Nicaragua Sub 23, ganador del pre Mundial de las Américas, al triunfar en sus nueve presentaciones.
Como centro de prensa no hubo más que una opción, debido a las características de un año en el que diversos torneos no se realizaron o se llevaron a cabo sin presencia del periodismo especializado. Por tal motivo, el premio, recayó en Puerto Rico, como sede de la Serie de beisbol del Caribe.
PREMIOS AIPS AMERICA 2020
Por este medio el Buró de AIPS América pone a su conocimiento los resultados de las votaciones para los PREMIOS AIPS AMERICA 2020.
Por primera vez en diez años de vigencia del galardón, participan 22 países en la elección (Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Estados Unidos, Guatemala, Honduras, México, Nicaragua, Panamá, Puerto Rico, Perú, República Dominicana, Surinam, Trinidad & Tobago, Uruguay y Venezuela).
Los atletas aquí incluidos fueron propuestos por las Asociaciones Nacionales. El Buró, convertido en Comisión Especial, chequeó los méritos exclusivamente del 2020 de los mismos, antes de depurar la nómina de candidatos y presentarla a las Asociaciones Nacionales para la votación final.

Yulimar and LeBron, the best athletes of the continent according to AIPS America
ASUNCIÓN, December 28, 2020.- In its tenth edition, the AIPS America award has chosen Yulimar Rojas (Venezuela, athletics, long and triple jumps) and LeBron James (United States, basketball) as the best athletes of the continent in the year 2020, according to the vote of their national associations, 22 of which issued their preferences during the selection process.
Rojas was distinguished a few weeks ago as the best female athlete according to the International Federation of Athletics Associations (IAAF), while James stood out by leading his team, Los Angeles Lakers, to the title of the 2019/2020 season of NBA
The best team was the Nicaraguan Under 23 men’s baseball team, winner of the pre-World Cup of the Americas, by triumphing in its nine presentations.
As a press center there was only one option, due to the characteristics of a year in which various tournaments were not held or were held without the presence of the specialized press. For this reason, the award went to Puerto Rico, as the headquarters of the Caribbean Baseball Series.

Hereby, the AIPS America Bureau informs you of the results of the voting for the AIPS AMERICA AWARDS 2020.
For the first time in ten years of the award, 22 countries participate in the election (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, United States, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto Rico, Peru, Dominican Republic, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago, Uruguay and Venezuela).
The athletes included here were nominated by the National Associations. The Bureau, converted into a Special Commission, checked the merits exclusively for 2020 of the same, before purifying the list of candidates and presenting it to the National Associations for the final vote.
